About Us

 SEPAC

The mission of the Roseville SEPAC is to assist the Roseville City School District in providing high-quality, appropriate supports and services for all children with special needs.  We have accomplished a lot in the short time we have been active.  Some of what we do and have done are:

1.

SEPAC formed a web page http://www.rosevillesepac.org to be a resource for parents whose children are in special education or for parents who are not involved in special education who need resources in reference to special education.

2.       SEPAC formed a Task Force consisting of two School Board Members, the Superintendent, the head of Special Education Services and two SEPAC board members to address special education issues identified by families.  We meet once a month.  We have improved the service locations and times for Occupational Therapy (OT) as well as clarifying the assessment process.  We are currently working on Bullying Training throughout the district.  We have also placed the SEPAC web site link on the district web page.

a.)  Principals now utilize the optimal location for OT services and other special ed services within the available space at their school sites.

b.)  A  Bullying strategy was developed in partnership with the Roseville Police Department's Youth Services Division to offer consistent training to all schools, staff and parents in the district yearly.  This Bullying Training is a great example of how a group of special education parents' concerns led to a positive impact on all students.

3.
SEPAC has partnered with the Roseville City School District to host trainings for parents three times a year at the district office. Trainings have included Dayna Thomas of Jabber Gym, AREA BOARD 3 representative Michael Rosenberg and Program Psychologist for SELPA George Brooks.

4.
SEPAC formed an Executive Committee with a SEPAC representative at each school to assist parents and staff to work collaboratively.

5.
SEPAC formed a Yahoo group, which is a talk group to voice concerns and share information.

6.
SEPAC Awards Dinner was established to award those who are providing outstanding service for those in special education.  Our goal is to foster a positive environment by encouraging those who are doing an outstanding job as well as motivating others.

7.
SEPAC has contacted the PTC’s throughout the district to add our ink to their web site and work together to get information to parents at their schools.

8.
SEPAC meets with the RSP and SDC teachers once a year to get their feedback on how parents can better assist them and their children.

9.
SEPAC developed a resource guide that is handed out at IEP’s.
